Disney, not satisfied with already having all the money in the world, just decided to make a little more. According to Deadline, the studio is going ahead with a plan to make a live-action version of The Little Mermaid.
That alone seems like a smart idea. But they’re going all-out. Alan Menken is coming back to revisit some of his old songs with the help of non other than Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda, who will also pen new material with Menken. On top of that, Miranda is also supervising the story with a writer who has not yet been hired.
So it seems Miranda and Disney are definitely best bros now, as he’s also working with them on Marry Poppins and Moana. If you wanted yet another reason to be jealous of Disney, that’s a good one. He seems like a cool guy to hang out with.
