CAPTAIN MARVEL Gets A Director Shortlist

One of these lucky people will win free Twitter harassment for a lifetime!

Marvel has already cast its Captain Marvel (psst… it’s Brie Larson), but that doesn’t mean the movie is all ready to go. In fact, a whole lot has to happen between now and its March 8, 2019 release date. For instance, the film still needs a director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the list of people Marvel wants for the project is down to three names (though it also claims more names may pop up in the future). Those names are Niki Caro, Lesli Glatter and Lorene Scafaria.

All three have impressive backgrounds. Caro directed the almost universally adored Whale Rider. Glatter has directed shows like Homeland, Mad Men and The West Wing, while Scafaria wrote Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and directed Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

This shortlist used to be longer. The Babadook’s Jennifer Kent and Kung Fu Panda 2’s Jennifer Yuh were also once contenders. Apparently that is no longer the case.

Obviously, Marvel is dedicated to finding a woman for the film, otherwise they would have gone with my dad, Sam Saathoff. As for the names present on this list, I’m sure all will be fine choices. My money was on Jennifer Kent. With her AND my dad out of the running, I’m just not sure how excited I am for this film now.
