Sadly, some of you aren't going to be able to catch Denis Villeneuve's Arrival when it opens Fantastic Fest 2016.
Maybe you neglected to secure your Fantastic Fest badge in time. Maybe having a full-time job in another state is keeping you away. Maybe you just have a natural aversion to events that are awesome. I don't know. Whatever the case may be, we feel legit sorry for you.
The good news is, the folks at The Playlist have taken pity on everyone who's going crazy with anticipation for Arrival, and they are here to ease our suffering with two new clips from the film. Let's take a look:
Here we see Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and company entering the extraterrestrials' ship for the very first time. As you can see, these aliens appear to be doing some interesting new things with doorways and gravity. I can respect that.
...and here's Amy Adams getting an up-close-and-personal introduction with the ETs. The aliens' full look has, obviously, not been revealed yet, but if they're anything like the creatures from Ted Chiang's The Story Of Your Life (the novella upon which Arrival is based), they're gonna be super freaky-looking.
Arrival will spend the next month or two making the film festival rounds before landing in theaters on November 11th. If we were any more excited about it, we'd need to be tranquilized.
