Mel Gibson is definitely no stranger to controversial views and statements, and given the remarks he got in trouble for in the past, I doubt he’s too worried about angering BatFans by dismissing Batman V Superman as “piece of shit”, which he just did in an interview with Deadline.
This “piece of shit business” is probably all anyone will take away from this surprisingly long and thorough interview, which is a shame because there’s so much great stuff in there. Gibson talks about the production of his new film Hacksaw Ridge and goes into interesting detail about a number of future projects he has in the works, particularly The Professor and the Madman.
And yes, he does call Batman V Superman a “piece of shit”, but he does so within a larger conversation about Hollywood finance that feels surprisingly candid:
I think there’s a lot of waste, but maybe if I did one of those things with the green screens I’d find out different. I don’t know. Maybe they do cost that much. I don’t know. It seems to me that you could do it for less.
I don't know about you, but I almost want him to do "one of those things with the green screens". The interview is a long read, but I highly recommend it.
