The Wall Street Journal, a publication known for its breaking of superhero movie scoops, just dropped a helluva bombshell: Joe Manganiello has signed on to play Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie.
You'll recall that, just a few weeks ago, Affleck teased and then confirmed the presence of Deathstroke in his Batman movie (which still, to our eternal frustration, does not have an official title yet). Was that Manganiello underneath Deathstroke's helmet? He looks a little slimmer than I'd expect Manganiello to look in that armor, but I suppose it's likely.
At any rate, this is exciting news. Manganiello's a charismatic performer who brings an obvious physicality to whatever role he inhabits, be it a werewolf (True Blood), a male stripper (Magic Mike XXL), or just a big-hearted hunk (Pee-Wee's Big Holiday). This is a solid get for the DCU.
What do you guys think? Excited to see Manganiello's Deathstroke take on Affleck's Batman? Sound off in the comments below.
