Right now, just about everyone you know is working their way through Netflix's newest Marvel series, Luke Cage, and so far the reactions seem ... mixed? Not so complimentary? People seem kind of bored with it? It's probably too early to determine an official consensus, but for now that seems to be the case.
No matter. The Marvel/Netflix train is going to keep on a-rollin' no matter what Twitter thinks, and here to remind us of that fact is a brand-new teaser for Iron Fist, a new Marvel series slated to premiere on Netflix next March.
Let's take a look.
If you're unfamiliar with the character, that teaser's probably very unhelpful. Here, then, is an official plot synopsis for the series:
Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
So, Daniel Rand (Game Of Thrones' Finn Jones) is a kung-fu master with an extremely powerful fist. He will use said fist and said kung-fu skills to battle criminals in New York City. It seems likely that there will also be some type of love interest, a good amount of brooding, and at least seventeen fight scenes in remarkably similar-looking hallways.
Here is an official photo of Iron Fist, sans costume, punching someone. It is unclear at this time whether he is using his kung-fu mastery or his "fiery Iron Fist" in this photo.
One last thing worth pointing out: Iron Fist is the last Marvel Netflix series before we get to The Defenders, which will find characters from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist teaming up, a la The Avengers, to take on some as-yet-undetermined Big Bad. Unlike the four series which preceded it, The Defenders will only be eight episodes long, which sounds like a great idea to me and something I hope everyone involved learns from.
Iron Fist arrives on March 17th, 2017.
