I know, I know. You all hate Tyler Perry. I get it. You’re all wrong, and that’s okay.
For the rest of us, however, this is a very exciting time. Perry’s first film in quite a while, Boo! A Madea Halloween, is just around the corner, and that means promotions! Some of them are really weird!
In this case, it means Madea will be a voice option on Waze, an app that tell you where to go when you’re so lost you can’t even find Google Maps. I’m not sure I’d want Madea yelling at me while navigating tense traffic situations, but I also don’t know how I can refuse. Wish me luck!
Here are the details:
Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a premier next generation content leader, and Waze, the free realtime community-based traffic and navigation application, announced that starting today U.S. Waze users will be able to get their directions voiced by Mabel “Madea” Simmons, the popular character portrayed by Tyler Perry in films, television and plays. Perry’s latest film,Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween, is being released by Lionsgate on October 21, 2016.
Limited-edition guest voice navigators have become a popular feature in the Waze app, which frequently enlists well known celebrities and fictional characters to provide audio directions for its navigation. In order to access Madea’s voice, download the free Waze app for iOS or Android at www.waze.com/get. To access the voice within Waze, go to: Settings > Sound > Voice Language > “Tyler Perry as Madea”
