DEATH RACE 2050 Trailer Gets Back To The Business Of Killing People For Points
Death Race 2000 is one of my favorite movies ever, and it’s not because it’s some perfect execution of cinematic genius. It’s cheap, exploitative and cheesy but it’s also fucking hilarious satire with perfectly modulated performances. I love it.
Which is why I’m kind of into this trailer for Roger Corman’s Death Race 2050:
Yeah yeah. It looks bad. I think that’s just what this tier of filmmaking offers like these days. I doubt all that Paul Bartel wit will remain, but this screen grab (courtesy of Phil) gives me hope:
So no, this isn’t going to touch the greatness of the original, but it could be fun. If nothing else, it returns the series to its roots after that weird Statham prison pitstop (which, to be fair, I also kind of love).
