You Have To See The Insane First Trailer For ARMY OF ONE

Meet Gary.

It's not like we were unaware of Army Of One.

We knew the film was a Larry Charles comedy. We knew it would star Nicolas Cage. We knew that Russell Brand, Wendy McLendon-Covey, and several other funny people would be appearing alongside him, and that the plot would revolve around Cage's attempts to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden.

Even knowing all that, we were not prepared for this.

Whoa. Lot to unpack here.

You've got Nic Cage operating at dangerously high (and, perhaps, heretofore uncharted) Nic Cage Levels. You've got Russell Brand playing God himself. You've got physical comedy involving scaffoldings, katanas, a donkey (more of a sight gag, but still) and a tag there at the end which I'm assuming is a dream sequence of some sort? This thing looks bananas.

In case you're unclear on the plot, here's how EW (who debuted the trailer above) is describing the film:

Nicolas Cage plays Gary Faulkner, an ex-con, unemployed handyman, and modern-day Don Quixote who receives a vision from God (Russell Brand) telling him to capture Osama bin Laden. Armed with only a single sword purchased from a home shopping network, Faulkner travels to Pakistan to complete his mission.

By the sound of it, Army Of One (based loosely on a GQ article you can read here) is avoiding a theatrical release and heading straight for digital HD on November 4th, with an OnDemand roll-out on November 15th. You guys into it or what?
