Buckle Up: Justin Lin Is Rebooting KNIGHT RIDER

Would watch.

According to a new report at Variety, director Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond, Fast Five) has officially signed on to produce a reboot of Knight Rider, the cheeseball 80s classic which starred David Hasselhoff and a talking car who solved crimes together or something? Who can remember.

Anyway, this new edition will be a digital series from Machinima, and is being produced in conjunction with Lin's YOMYOMF production shingle. There's no casting news to speak of just yet, but it's probably safe to assume that Hasselhoff won't be returning to the role. Also probably not returning: the original Pontiac Firebird Trans Am he co-starred with. Given Lin's involvement, we'll probably be getting something much flashier.

And probably a lot more ridiculous! If you'd asked me ten minutes ago how I'd feel about a Knight Rider reboot, I would have fallen asleep before you even finished your sentence. But Lin's a goddamn madman, and I'm sorta curious to see what sort of pyrotechnics he'll be bringing to the show. Here's hoping he signs up to direct a few eps, as well.

Nothing further to report at this time, but stay tuned. We'll keep you informed on the Knight Rider front as more becomes available.
