What hath The Avengers wrought? Marvel’s Netflix universe is headed towards its own full-blown crossover, and despite being one, at best one-point-five for four, they’re plowing full steam ahead. Adding to the list of characters returning to the MNTVU (I don’t know, man) are Daredevil and Luke Cage alumni Deborah Ann Woll and Simone Missick, seen here in this teaser trailer made entirely of posters:
The strong sure do survive, as I’m sure Karen Page and Misty Knight can attest, but what catches my eye is the final image in the announcement: “Those who surround us, define us,” which would be an interesting theme for the show to tackle. The likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and presumably Iron Fist all spend much of their screen time struggling with the idea of heroism (for better, and most definitely for worse), and the likes of Karen and Misty have thus far helped mold those heroic identities. Add Trish ‘Patsy’ Walker to the mix and you’ve got yourself a full house. Here’s hoping!
Does this make Karen the Nick Fury of the Marvel Hallway Universe? Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple has shown up pretty much everywhere thus far (no word on her return yet), but Karen seems like she’s going to help Frank Castle figure out his “will he, won’t he” in The Punisher as well.
The Defenders is still a ways away, but even as someone who’s slept through more of these episodes than he’d like to admit, all these characters being thrown into the same pot and directed by S.J. Clarkson piques my interest. We’ll keep you posted as more casting announcements come our way. In the meantime, weigh in on this decision below, and don’t forget to argue about how much you like or dislike Foggy Nelson.
