According to a new report over at Deadline, Ant-Man's own Michael Peña has joined Michael Shannon and Chris Hemsworth in Nicolai Fuglsig’s Horse Soldiers, which tells "tense true story of a U.S. Special Forces team and their untested captain sent to a rugged region of Afghanistan in the weeks after 9/11."
According to Deadline, Peña will play...
"Diller, a member of Mitch’s (Hemsworth) team that was assigned to join forces with a Northern Alliance warlord to fight against overwhelming odds to drive out the Taliban.
Diller is described as a West Virginia hick who would have been a history teacher if his temper didn’t get the best of him. His character shows great bravery when he volunteers to lead a group around the mountains into life-threatening terrain to attempt to cut of the Taliban’s supply line."
While we continue to feel profound disappoint that Horse Soldiers is not a movie starring Michael Shannon and Chris Hemsworth as battling Centaurs, Peña's addition to the cast goes a long way towards smoothing things over. Much like his Horse Soldiers co-star Michael Shannon, it is a scientific fact that any movie can be immediately improved by adding more Peña.
Nothing further to report at this time, but stay tuned for updates as they roll in. While we're waiting, let's revisit my all-time favorite Michael Peña scene:
