The next few weeks are going to be an absolute beating for the United States, but there is some sort of hope on the horizon: Dave Chappelle - one of the funniest human beings ever to walk the planet, and a man who has been tragically absent from the comedy landscape for the past decade - will host Saturday Night Live on November 12th.
The news, perhaps the best I've heard in months, comes to us from Variety:
Comedian Dave Chappelle will host Saturday Night Live on the Nov. 12 episode, NBC announced on Friday.
This will be the first time that Chappelle has ever hosted the show. A Tribe Called Quest will be the evening’s musical guest.
We all miss Dave Chappelle something fierce (please, god, let this be the first step towards a new stand-up special), so obviously this is reason to celebrate. But the fact that this is happening literally days after the election? The results could be seismic. One wonders if SNL approached Chappelle ... or if the comedian came to them with some ideas of his own.
Whatever the case may be, we cannot wait to find out. Spread this news as far and wide as you can, folks: America needs a little cheering up right now, and if this doesn't do it, nothing will.
