What We Can Do - 11/29/16

What the heck do we concentrate on?

What the heck do we concentrate on?

It's the question I feel like everyone is asking and no one has an answer to. The planet's dying and we're denying climate change. Every cabinet member seems to be specially suited to ignore the very crisis their department is facing. And we're turning hoses on Native American protesters... Simply put, there's a lot of concern to go around.

While I keep thinking about the deepest existential questions, I often try to remember to keep it simple, actionable, and personable. To that I fall back on the larger notions of the right to education and remembering that as the country gets embattled, there are truly dire circumstances in the world today.

So this week I'm giving to the INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE (92 RATING, going to be sure to include these going forward), specifically giving just 58 dollars to give the gift of a year of school for a young girl in a developing or war-torn country. Please keep in mind, these gifts are symbolic as they have to appropriate the money in the way they truly need to, but it's making the direction statement about what you are helping. And if anything is our perpetual savior in our modern society, it is education. And please know that if the price tag of 58 dollars is a bit too much, they have a selection of many other fine gifts within the work that they do. Every little bit helps.

Let's get to work.
