Making magic look cool in movies isn’t as easy as you’d think. Wizard stuff is usually pretty badass, but some jabroni doing a card trick will never not look like a talent show act. And not a good talent show act. Like, Mormon School talent show act.
But mix magic with super heroics, and you might have something. That’s the hope of this trailer for Sleight, anyway:
I like it! There isn’t a bunch of plot here, just a lot of floaty object action. But that floaty object action looks good, and combined with the positive reviews Sleight got out of Sundance (along with a Blumhouse acquisition) there seems good reason to believe this will be something to watch out for when it hits theaters this April.
