Rumor: Peter Parker’s Getting An Unexpected Costume Upgrade In SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

This post may contain minor SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING spoilers.

One last warning: this post may contain costume-related spoilers for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Consider yourselves doubly warned.

Here's an interesting report from the folks over at Comic Book Movies:

Earlier today, Sony Pictures showed off a snippet of the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer at Brazil's CCXP, and descriptions are already flooding online. The clearest comes from Marvel's own Agent M, and as you can see below...

"The Spider-Man Homecoming footage was short but AWESOME," he explains via Twitter. "Starts from Spidey's POV, talking with Happy Hogan. There's a case from Tony Stark with an "upgrade" for Spidey. Then we see Spidey leap off a building, open his arms, web wings! There were a few more flashes of shots, but I can't remember. That classic underarm webbing look was just so rad."

This lines up with a thing or two that I've heard about the goings-on in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but of course I can't confirm anything.

On a related note: the webbing (a nod to Steve Ditko's classic Spider-Man costume design) is a great touch that I'm sure will excite hardcore Spidey fans, but I gotta be honest - the description Comic Book Movies provides of that "leaping Spider-Man" shot has me even more excited:

Spider-Man actually jumps off the Washington monument (with a helicopter in the background), opens his arms, and starts gliding towards an oncoming Vulture.

Holy shit, yeah! I suppose that raises questions of what Peter might be doing at the Washington monument, and what sort of evil hijinks the Vulture (Michael Keaton) may be up to while he's in the area, but we'll probably know more about that soon enough. And if nothing else, word 'round the campfire is that a Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer will be landing in our laps sooner rather than later. Consensus seems to be that it'll be attached to Rogue One, but again: no one's confirming that at this time.

Stay tuned for more on Spider-Man: Homecoming as it becomes available, folks.
