Get Your First Look At Margot Robbie As Tony Harding In I, TONYA

In which Margot Robbie gets an extensive makeover.

Ever since we learned that Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie had signed on to headline the Tony Harding biopic I, Tonya, we've been trying to imagine what she might look like in the role. Today, thanks to some set photos that made their way to the Today Show, we have an answer to that question.

So that's a pretty startling transformation! And a successful one, at that - Robbie definitely looks the part! I bet she crushes this role.

More than anything, I'm curious to see what sort of tone I, Tonya's going to roll with. Given the material, I'd sort of expect the film to be a dark comedy, but I guess you could easily play Harding's story as tragedy.

Here's how The Hollywood Reporter's describing the plot:

The film from director Craig Gillespie will chronicle the events leading up to the infamous scandal, when Olympian figure skater Nancy Kerrigan was attacked by a man who struck her a few inches above the knee at the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The attack was traced back to Harding’s ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly (to be played by Sebastian Stan), and her bodyguard, Shawn Eckhardt.

I, Tonya is shooting now. Once a trailer arrives, we'll know what sort of approach Gillespie's taken with the material. Fingers crossed for a Coen Brothers-style dark crime-comedy!
