Ben Wheatley’s FREE FIRE Just Got Pushed Back By A Month

We're sure it'll be worth the wait.

The good news is, director Ben Wheatley (last year's High-Rise) has a new movie on the horizon, a blood-drenched dark action-comedy by the name of Free Fire. The bad news is, Free Fire just got bumped from its March 17th release date back to April 21st.

This is not the best news we've heard today, but look: we're pretty confident Free Fire's going to be worth the wait. Early word on the film (which stars Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, and Wheatley MVP Michael Smiley) is through the roof, and everything we've seen thus far - from the trailers to the film's excellent one-sheets - indicates this one's gonna be right up our alley.

Here's the red-band trailer again, in case you missed it the first time around:

Bummer we're gonna have to wait an extra month for this, but whatcanyado?

And, hey, who knows? Maybe with the added time, A24 can get Wheatley to come over to the States and do a screening/promotional tour like the one he's currently got lined up in the UK. We certainly wouldn't turn down the opportunity.

Stay tuned for more on Free Fire (now hitting theaters on April 21st) as the updates roll in.
