CITY SLICKERS And WESTWORLD: The Inevitable Pairing Finally Arrives

City Slickers is a movie I haven’t thought about for a long time. The Jake Gyllenhaal classic is about a yuppie jerk who connects with his lost masculinity by joining a herd of cattle and being berated by Jack Palance. It’s kind of funny, but also tries to have a lot of serious stuff going on as well.

I have no idea how the movie has aged, but it’s apparently time for a revisit via this Funny or Die video that recasts Crystal’s cowboy adventures as part of the Westworld fabric:

Admit it. That’s pretty good, if only for the familiar faces. Crystal’s back, but so is Daniel Stern! Along with the Westworld Hemsworth, that other guy and one of the prostitute ladies. It’s pretty cool!

It’s also funny, which is saying a lot when it comes to Billy Crystal lately. The cursing and violence isn’t something I normally associate with him, so that was a nice surprise.

All in all, I’m happy someone made this. If nothing else, it has me wanting to watch City Slickers again. But not Westworld. I’m all good on Westworld.
