I love Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla, but I’d be lying if I said Aaron Taylor-Johnson was a great lead in the film. Fortunately, it’s looking like the sequel, Godzilla: King of Monsters, might have more luck in the casting department.
The film already has Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown going for it. And now it can add veteran nice guy (but not always!) Kyle Chandler to its ranks. Surprising no one, Chandler will play Brown’s father in the film.
We’re not going to see a lot of returning faces in this one, but Variety does claim Ken Watanabe might come back, if only to encourage more monster fighting. Michael Dougherty will direct, and as far as we know, the film is still going to focus on a big Godzilla brawl with classic characters like Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah. How much do you want to bet Millie Bobby Brown has some kind of telepathic connection to Mothra?
