NEON To Release Errol Morris’ THE B-SIDE

NEON's bagged another one!

And today the company announced there was another acquisition to join its ranks: The B-Side.

Errol Morris’ doc explores the life of portrait photographer Elsa Dorman, and celebrated one helluva year of film festival success in 2016. After premiering at the Telluride Film Festival, the film was quickly scooped up by other film fests around the globe. Those who weren’t able to see it via its countless festival appearances have a lot to look forward to when it makes its theatrical debut in June!

NEON, the recently launched distribution company founded by Tom Quinn and Tim League, will release Oscar winning director Errol Morris’ THE B-SIDE, a heartfelt portrait of photographer, Elsa Dorfman. In The B-Side: Elsa Dorfman’s Portrait Photography, Errol Morris explores the life and work of ed portrait photographer, Elsa Dorfman. Dorfman found her medium in 1980: the larger-than-life Polaroid Land 20x24 camera. For the next thirty-five years she captured the “surfaces” of those who visited her Cambridge, Massachusetts studio: families, Beat poets, rock stars, and Harvard notables. ith whimsical charm and wit, Dorfman gives Morris, her longtime friend, a tour of her backyard archive. As photographs begin to fade and Dorfman’s retirement looms, Morris’s film reminds us of a bygone era of analog photography and the extraordinary life of one of its champions.

Errol Morris remarks on the photographer, "Elsa is one of my favorite photographers. Her work is the perfect combination of Renaissance portraiture and dime-store photography."

Presented by Fourth Floor Productions and Moxie Pictures, THE B-SIDE is directed by Oscar-winner, Errol Morris, produced and edited by Steven Hathaway, executive produced by Robert Fernandez and Julia Sheehan, and co-produced by Jesse Wann with cinematography by Nathan Allen Swingle, music by Paul Leonard-Morgan, graphics by Jeremy Landman and art direction by Eugenia Magann Haynes.
