Late last night, 20th Century Fox unveiled "The Last Supper", a five-minute Alien: Covenant prologue directed by Ridley Scott's son, Luke. The entire Covenant crew is here, enjoying one last meal together before jetting off to what they think will be a safe, new home. If only they knew they were in an Alien movie.
Check it out:
At first glance, this is kind of a weird thing to release in support of Alien: Covenant, but it's really not all that different than the viral campaign we saw prior to the release of Prometheus, where we saw Guy Pearce's Peter Wayland giving a TED Talk (worth noting that those clips were directed by Luke Scott, as well). I suppose the aim for "The Last Supper" is to establish some of the relationships between Covenant crew members, and to let us in on why they're going where they're going. Mission accomplished!
As you can see, the cast on this one is even more sprawling than the one we had in Prometheus: included here are Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and a very sickly-looking James Franco. Something tells me Franco's not gonna last very long.
What do you guys think of the above? You into it? Sound off below, and stay tuned for more on Alien: Covenant as we get ever closer to the film's May 19th release date.
