CHIPS Gets Yet Another Red Band Trailer

I guess it makes sense for a movie to focus its promotion around red band trailers. If you’re going for broke on being dirty, might as well let people know it. All the same, there’s a sense of desperation to this new red band trailer for CHIPS:

The last trailer went heavy on gay panic jokes. They’re still here, but now they’ve been overshadowed by rim job jokes. Writer-director-star Dax Shepard really has a lot to say about eating butt.

I don’t think this movie is going to work at all, but there are a couple nice moments to be found here, particularly the whole thing where Michael Peña’s character has a history of shooting the same fellow police officer (Adam Brody) in high tense situations. And there’s always the dogged hope that Vincent D’Onofrio will at least provide the movie with one stand-out scene.

But nothing else on display here tells me this will be anything super special. What do you guys think? CHIPS comes out March 24.
