Disney Considering A TRON Reboot With Jared Leto In The Lead

That's PRECISELY what this franchise needs!

Here's a baffling bit of news, via The Hollywood Reporter:

"(Disney) is in the very early stages of development for a new Tron movie, with Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto circling to star."

What?

"(Disney) is in the very early stages of development for a new Tron movie, with Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto circling to star."

I don't --

"(Disney) is in the very early stages of development for a new Tron movie, with Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto circling to star."

Okay, okay, we've got it: Disney, who officially shelved Joseph Kosinski's proposed Tron 3 project just a few years ago, is now interested in rebooting the entire Tron franchise with "a movie that would act as a Leto vehicle."

That's inexplicable enough as it is, but get this: Disney's plan also calls for rebooting Tron atop the bones of Kosinski's long-buried Tron: Legacy sequel:

Sources say this new project is not a direct sequel and is being built out of the source code of the deleted Tron 3 script. Leto would play a character named Ares, who has not appeared on screen before but was a key player in that script.

Folks, I'm at a loss here. It's been a long week, the world's already confusing enough as it is, and I legitimately don't understand why this is happening. I have no words of encouragement to offer you, nothing comforting to say. Sometimes things just happen whether we want them to or not, and we just gotta do our best to keep moving forward and doing what we can with what we got.

Disney's proposed Tron: Leto reboot has neither a writer nor a director attached at this time, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take this threat seriously. Stand by for updates.
