Remember when they announced that "dark and gritty" Robin Hood remake last year and we all rolled our eyes and sighed and expressed our collective disbelief that someone, somewhere thought that anyone would be interested in yet another trip to the Robin Hood well? Well, that one (starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx) hasn't even arrived yet, and another take on the Robin Hood mythos has already been announced.
According to The Playlist, Marian will star Margot Robbie as Maid Marian, who takes up the Robin Hood mantle after witnessing the death of the noted arrowslinger. So, it's one part reboot and one part gender-swap. Okay, then.
In terms of a timeline, it's likely that Marian's a ways off: the actress is still finishing up work on the Tonya Harding biopic, I, Tonya, and will then return to her Harley Quinn role in David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens.
Stay tuned for more on Marian as it becomes available. Dream up the next Robin Hood reboot in the comments below (fingers crossed for an all-horse version of Robin Hood, or maybe one where everything takes place underwater, or on Saturn, or in some fantastical world where people are eager for more Robin Hood movies).
