James Gunn: “There Will Be A GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3”

As if you ever doubted.

In an interview with Complex, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn sounds very certain that a Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 will happen, to the surprise of absolutely no one.

Here's the quote:

“There will be a Guardians 3, that’s for sure. We’re trying to figure it out. I’m trying to figure out what I want to do really, that’s all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing. You know, I’m going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I’m just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks.”

So maybe James Gunn directs the next Guardians Of The Galaxy, maybe he doesn't (shot in the dark guess: James Gunn is totally gonna end up directing Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3), but either way, it's something Marvel plans on doing. And why wouldn't they, given the overwhelming success of the first film and the all-but-guaranteed success of its heavily-hyped sequel? This isn't quite legit news, then, I suppose. But it is good news, and who among us couldn't use a bit more of that?

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives on May 5th. While we're waiting on that to arrive, here's a discussion question: what do you think is the most popular franchise in the MCU? Iron Man? Guardians? Captain America? We're curious where you folks stand on that.
