If you’ve been following along with Star Wars’ upcoming Han Solo spin-off, you know that Woody Harrelson will be joining our favorite scruffy looking nerf herder in one capacity or another. After his involvement was confirmed, many expressed hope that he would be playing Alexsandr Badure, the man who taught the smuggler to fly, and saved his life. Since that initial announcement, news has spread that Harrelson would be playing a mentor to the smuggler, nudging those hopes further. But it looks like Harrelson won’t be the mentor they were looking for.
Woody Harrelson made his way to the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to discuss his upcoming comedy Wilson, but obviously there were Star Wars questions thrown his way. When asked about his character, here’s what he gave:
“I play a guy named Beckett, who’s kind of a criminal and a mentor to Han. That’s all I can say.”
Having a different name doesn’t mean Harrelson’s character can’t pull from Badure, or any of the other fatherly, mentor-like characters Solo has had in his day. As it has been with their other Star Wars properties, everyone’s staying pretty tight-lipped on the details, but we know Harrelson will be shooting in London until the end of July.
Let the wild speculation over what this mysterious Beckett will be like begin!
