We are about to enter the summer movie season, a few months where almost every movie that comes out is a big-ass blown-out action spectacular hitting at such a pace that it gets hard to remember what movies about real people look like.
But this summer, in the midst of all that madness, Kathryn Bigelow returns we Detroit, the true story of the 1967 Detroit riots. The film now has a trailer, and it looks just as gritty and intense as you might expect:
That is going to be amazing. The story looks great, and that cast - which includes John Boyega, Anthony Mackie, John Krasinski, Jack Reynor Will Poulter - is top notch, particularly Boyega.
Annapurna Pictures backed Bigelow’s last film, but this will be the first film they release as a distributor. Let’s hope it does well for them. Detroit comes out August 4.
