Here's some lightly frustrating news, via our friends over at Collider:
Fox announced today that director Shane Black’s new Predator sequel has been pushed off of its February 9, 2018 release date and will instead open in theaters on August 3, 2018.
So, yeah, The Predator's been pushed back almost exactly six months, setting it right in the middle of the Summer 2018 movie season. While it's certainly a bummer that we're going to be waiting another half year for this movie, it's also a good sign: if 20th Century Fox thinks The Predator can compete against Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly's Holmes & Watson, Disney's live-action Aladdin remake, and Mission: Impossible 6 (which opens the weekend before), they must be feeling pretty confident, indeed.
And y'know what? They should feel confident. If The Predator turns out to be half as good as its script, we're in for one helluva Predator movie. A big, swaggering, very Shane Black-like Predator movie, to be precise (go ahead and start getting hyped for this one now; you're in good hands).
Stay tuned for more on The Predator as it becomes available.
