ALIEN: COVENANT Marketing Campaign Reaches The All-Important Virtual Reality Stage

What, you didn't think we were done with this, did you?

We're just a few weeks away from the arrival of Alien: Covenant, and 20th Century Fox's marketing campaign is still going strong: we've seen stills, TV spots, trailers, an extended prologue, a number of posters, an inexplicable X-ray thing, spoilery stills, and crew testimonials. Your humble Alien correspondent (ed. note - it me) has remained vigilant throughout, determined to document every last shred of this sprawling campaign in the lead-up to Covenant's release.

After all that, what could possibly be left? Why, virtual reality, of course.

According to our friends over at IndieWire, Alien: Covenant - In Utero is a brand-new VR experience coming exclusively to the Oculus Rift, and will offer users "“a 360-degree virtual reality journey into a living nightmare and offers a terrifyingly close and personal encounter as an alien neomorph."

Based on the sound effects at the top of that teaser, I'm guessing that In Utero will have "players" taking on the role of the Neomorph as it bursts from the back of...whoever that guy is in the header photo of this post. This writer does not have an Oculus at his disposal, but would very much like to experience the thrill of being a Neomorph. If you want to send me yours, in other words, I will gladly take it off your hands.

Alien: Covenant arrives on May 19th. Alien: Covenant - In Utero arrives on April 26th.
