If you pulled Spectre apart like some a la carte meal, there’d definitely be a couple tasty bits you’d want to salvage amongst the overcooked courses. For me the jewel in the movie’s hobo crown is the train fight between 007 (Daniel Craig) and Mr. Hinx (Dave Bautista). However we got there, whatever we endured up to that point, that fight - with an icepick-wielding, near-panicked Bond outmatched against Spectre’s quietest, nattiest brick shithouse - is an all-timer in a film franchise kind of known for them. In your declining years, when the gray matter of your brain mushes all the dozens of these movies together, it’s not going to matter which movies were the best. It’s going to be about the moments, and the Spectre train fight is a Great Bond Moment.
So count me in when Dave Bautista says he wants to return in Bond 25. According to the Metro, Bautista had this to say at the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 European premiere:
"Yeah! Believe me we’re talking about it a lot. We’re waiting at home with our fingers crossed...we’re waiting for the news to see if Daniel will sign up for Bond 25, because then there’s a chance that Hinx will come back...I’m reading the rumours just like everyone else.”
Okay, not a lot of real news there, beyond “Dave Bautista wants to do Bond 25,” which I told you in the headline. So take your clickbait accusations on the arches, pal. And news or not, wouldn't you rather know what's in Dave Bautista's heart than not know?
Interesting things to ponder, all. But think today about the concept of throwing out babies with bathwater, think about the idea of letting no part of an animal’s carcass going to waste, and dream tonight of super-chatty Mr. Hinx in a neckbrace, returned to present a new threat in Bond 25.
