Some exciting news just landed over at The Hollywood Reporter:
"Anya Taylor-Joy, the star of The Witch and Split, and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams have signed on to star in (New Mutants), the ensemble young adult super hero movie being directed by Josh Boone."
Yes, Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams - two phenomenally talented young actresses - have climbed aboard Josh Boone's New Mutants movie. If you're unfamiliar with that particular X-property, THR's got a pretty solid breakdown of what to expect:
"The movie will focus on the angst-driven adventures of a diverse group of teens that include Native American Danielle Moonstar, Scots girl Wolfsbane, Brazilian ladies man Sunspot, a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball, and Russian teen Magik. Also in the mix will be an alien named Warlock."
Taylor-Joy will be playing Magik, a sorceress who travels around using "teleportation discs". Williams, meanwhile, will be playing Wolfsbane, who THR describes as "a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf."
The rest of these roles will probably fill up quick: New Mutants is on track to begin filming in early July, with an eye towards an already-announced April 13, 2018 arrival in theaters. We should expect to hear a lot more about New Mutants in the near future, in other words.
