Here’s Our First Look At John Goodman In CAPTIVE STATE

In which John Goodman prepares for (another) alien invasion.

The first photo from Rupert Wyatt's Captive State has arrived, and it's pretty damn intriguing.

The photo was accompanied by the following press release, which seems to be playing its cards fairly close to its vest:

"Captive State is directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Gambler), who also co-wrote the original screenplay with Erica Beeney. The cast features John Goodman, Ashton Sanders (Moonlight), Jonathan Majors and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Vera Farmiga. The film is produced by David Crockett and Rupert Wyatt and executive produced by Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King.

Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents."

An alien invasion movie set ten years after the actual alien invasion? That's an angle I'm curious to hear more about, and you just know I'm all-in for anything John Goodman-related (particularly after Goodman's outstanding turn in last year's 10 Cloverfield Lane...which was another invasion movie of a sort), and I'm certainly in for another genre effort from Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' Rupert Wyatt.

So, we're into the premise, we're into the director, we're into this cast. Is there a downside? Yes: apparently, Captive State won't arrive until August 17th, 2018. That sucks, but whatcanyado? We'll keep an eye on it between now and then and let you know as updates roll in.
