According to The Wrap...
"Sony has assembled a wish list for actors to lead the comic-book movie Bloodshot that includes Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicholas Hoult, and Mark Wahlberg, an insider familiar with the search told TheWrap exclusively."
The Wrap goes on to point out that, just because the names are on Valiant Entertainment's list, doesn't mean that any of them will actually take the gig. A very salient point, and one we should all keep in mind before we get too excited about how hilarious it'd be to see Mark Wahlberg in full-blown Bloodshot makeup.
For those of you unfamiliar with the character, here's a handy synopsis from the character's Wikipedia page:
"Bloodshot is a former soldier with powers of regeneration and meta-morphing made possible through nanites injected into his blood. After having his memory wiped numerous times, Bloodshot is out to discover who he really is and get vengeance on those who did this to him."
'90s kids may remember Bloodshot as the character on one of a thousand "chrome" collector's covers Valiant Comics released back in the day. I bought that issue like a chump, because it was shiny and I figured it might be worth something one day, and I'm not sure I ever read it. We were an Image Comics household.
Nothing further to report at this time, but we'll let you know as soon as someone cuts a deal.
