Stephen King Says Cujo Has A Cameo In THE DARK TOWER

This movie's gonna be packed with Stephen King easter eggs, fam.

In a new interview with IGN, Stephen King says that Nikolaj Arcel's forthcoming adaptation of The Dark Tower will feature one easter egg we definitely weren't expecting (and we've been expecting a few of 'em). A cameo, to be precise.

Says King:

“If viewers who are familiar with my work look very closely, they might see Cujo. Keep an eye out for Cujo in New York City.”

Yes, Cujo - that lovable St. Bernard who got rabies after being bitten by a bat - will make a cameo in Sony's The Dark Tower. On the streets of New York City, if King's to be believed. That seems like a strange place for a rabid St. Bernard to be popping up (seriously: the more you think about it, the weirder it gets), but who are we to judge?

Elsewhere in the same interview, King says that he's not too worried about the liberties The Dark Tower has taken with his magnum opus...

“What I’ve always enjoyed is seeing my stories serving as a launching pad of some new or adapted vision of what I’ve done. The people involved in the movie all had the latitude, which I was happy to give them, to reinvent it.”

...and also says that he hopes the first film does well at the box office, so that we might see Dark Tower fan-favorite characters Eddie, Susannah and Oy up on the big screen:

“I miss them. I miss all three of them. They’re my friends from many adventures and many happy hours creating these stories. Obviously one of the reasons I hope this movie is a big success is that in the next one, they could bring Eddie and Susannah and Oy into the story in some way."
