WIND RIVER Trailer Is Chilly And Bleak And Excellent

After scripting both Sicario and Hell or High Water, Taylor Sheridan’s coming to his directorial debut, Wind River with about as much goodwill as possible. And though being a great screenwriter doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be just as successful as a director, this trailer bodes well for his talents behind the camera:

There’s an old school vibe to this that I really enjoy. Who doesn’t like a solid murder mystery with a great cast in a novel setting? The Avengers reunion of Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen is exciting (particularly with Renner as some kind of Grizzly Adams badass), and I’m always down for a Graham Greene performance.

Wind River is currently playing Cannes and will get a release this August. Fingers crossed it’s as good as it looks here.
