If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: if I had to crash land into a snow-topped mountain range with any two people (living or dead), I would absolutely want to crash into a snow-topped mountain range with Kate Winslet and Idris Elba. Those two get shit done, and I want them on my team.
And now someone's made a movie about my weird daydreams.
Based on the novel of the same name by Charles Martin, Hany Abu-Assad's The Mountain Between Us looks...pretty good, I guess! A touch melodramatic, perhaps, and maybe a little predictable, but you can't argue with that cinematography, and - as previously noted - I'll watch pretty much anything starring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba (and Elba's even been allowed to keep his accent in this one!). So, yeah, I'll give this one a whirl.
How about you folks? Gonna check this out when it opens on October 20th or do you not want to watch Idris Elba and Kate Winslet tromping around in the snow for two hours? Oh, and also: any of y'all read the book this is based on? Worth a read or nah?
