Jennifer Connelly Will Headline TNT’s SNOWPIERCER Series

We're way into it.

According to a new report over at Deadline Hollywood, none other than Jennifer Connelly has joined TNT's Snowpiercer series, which she'll co-headline alongside the already-cast Daveed Diggs.

The series' pilot, to be directed by Doctor Strange's Scott Derrickson, will loosely follow the events of the film, taking place "seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, and the remnants of humanity inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe."

Deadline's even got a pretty good breakdown on the roles Connelly and Diggs will be playing:

"...Connelly will play Melanie Cavill, a First Class passenger who works as the Voice of the Train – responsible for making the daily announcements over its PA system. Though many in her VIP position are dismissive of the lower class passengers, Melanie is curiously fascinated by them. Diggs plays Layton Well, a prisoner who becomes a reluctant participant in a struggle that could upend life on the train."

This is an interesting move for Connelly, and a major win for everyone else involved with TNT's Snowpiercer. Almost anything in the world can be improved with the addition of Jennifer Connelly, and it's always a pleasure to see her popping up in genre fare (see also: Dark City; do not accidentally see: Dark Water).

Nothing further to report at this time, but - as you might expect - we'll be keeping a close eye on this one as it works its way through production. While you're waiting on the next update, feel free to head down to the comments to debate which Jennifer Connelly movie is the best.
