New WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES Clip Introduces Us To Nova

In which the Apes get a pet human sidekick.

We kinda figured we were done getting excited about Matt Reeves' War For The Planet Of The Apes. We're fans of Reeves, we're fans of the franchise, each new trailer has knocked us out. Hype levels were already running at maximum. There was nowhere to go but down.

And then this clip came along.

Hype levels, as it turns out, had not already been maxed out.

Looks like things are only going to get more complicated for Caesar and company, doesn't it? We already know the Apes are going to have all manner of other problems to deal with - pesky humans monkeying around on their land, a gun-toting (and very angry) Woody Harrelson to contend with, a literal war for supremacy - but now they're also going to have a kid sidekick on their hands (paws?). Imagine having to babysit in the middle of a war. Yeesh.

Anyway, if you've forgotten, here's the plot synopsis:

Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.

Matt Reeves' War For The Planet Of The Apes arrives on July 14th. If we get any more hyped about it, someone might get hurt.
