HAPPY DEATH DAY Trailer Offers Fun In Unoriginality

It’s a pretty simple idea. One we’ve seen before, but whatever. Take the premise of Groundhog Day, and turn it into a horror film. Escape from Tomorrow already turned it into a sci-fi action movie, so why not?

With that, I give you the trailer for Happy Death Day:

The possible downside of a premise where a lady has to relive the day of her murder over and over again until she finally gets it right (I assume) is whether such a thing can carry any tension. It’s basically a horror film with one victim. Knowing that she’s just going to wake up again the next day kind of takes the immediacy out of it. Also, that mask sucks.

But it’s novel enough that I’m intrigued with what this could offer.
