Goodbye, floating heads.

The last few Spider-Man: Homecoming posters haven’t exactly been great, and by that I mean they’ve been the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons. The floating heads just don’t work anymore (did they ever, outside of Drew Struzan?) and people are getting better at spotting bad Photoshop… Behold! Here’s one that’s actually pretty good!

Like I’ve said before, how good or bad a poster is doesn’t have much of an impact on a big film’s revenue, but it’s always interesting to see what kind of movie a studio is selling. Previous posters have indicated something overcrowded and Iron Man-focused (seriously, he showed up THREE TIMES on the last one), but this poster here by artist Matt Ferguson, available to those who watch the film in 3D at UK's Odeon Cinemas, tells a different story.

Best case scenario, Spider-Man is going to be the focus of Homecoming, with all the Stark, Avengers and bigger New York happenings being more of a backdrop; a Spider-Man movie in the world of the Avengers, more fire escape than skyscraper, as opposed to an Avengers movie featuring Spider-Man. I guess we’ll find out for sure on July 7th!
