Dan Gilroy’s INNER CITY Is Now Called ROMAN ISRAEL, ESQ.

The director of NIGHTCRAWLER has finished his latest movie, and it may be here in time for Oscar season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nightcrawler director Dan Gilroy's next film - a legal thriller starring Denzel Washington, Colin Farrell and Carmen Ejogo - will no longer be known as Inner City. Now it's called Roman Israel, Esq.

More importantly: the film's done shooting, and Sony's hoping it's be ready for release later this year:

Roman Israel, Esq., which just wrapped principal photography, does not have a release date, but the studio is eyeing a fourth-quarter release. That would position Washington and his performance for awards consideration.

Someone's feeling confident! And why shouldn't they? With Washington front and center and Gilroy behind the camera (working from his own script), there's every reason to believe that this one's gonna be a powerhouse.

For those of you who've not been following along, Roman Israel, Esq. revolves around "a Los Angeles attorney, played by Washington, who is offered a job at a prestigious law firm after the death of his longtime partner. He takes on a case that has life-altering repercussions."

Yup, yup - say no more, we're all in.

Dan Gilroy's Roman Israel, Esq. will arrive later this year, god willing. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
