Quentin Tarantino’s Next Film Will Tackle The Manson Family Murders

Well THIS is incredibly exciting news.

It'd been a while since we'd given it any thought, but for some reason we've been living under the impression that Quentin Tarantino's next film was going to be a western set in the Australian outback. That sounded like it had potential and we'd have been happy with it...but as it turns out, Tarantino's been working on something else entirely.

Take it away, THR:

"Quentin Tarantino is quietly starting to put together his latest project, and is talking to A-list actors for what is promising to be a unique take on the Manson Family murders.

The project, whose title is unknown, was written by Tarantino who would also direct. Harvey and Bob Weinstein, who have produced and exec produced the previous Tarantino films, are involved, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter."

Right now there's very little to go on in terms of plot, but THR says "one of the story's centers is on Sharon Tate", who was married to Roman Polanski when she and a houseful of people fell victim to the Manson family. They also say that both Jennifer Lawrence and Brad Pitt have been approached about being in the film, but that nothing's confirmed at this time.

How exciting is this? What the hell is this movie actually going to be? Are we looking at a straight retelling of the murders? Something more alternate history, in the style of Inglourious Basterds? Can we get Jeremy Davies back to play Manson? My head is swirling with questions. This entire thing has us pumped. How 'bout you guys?
