Finally: Ben Stiller And Dev Patel Are Making A CHIPPENDALES Movie
According to Deadline, Ben Stiller and Dev Patel have officially signed on to headline Chippendales, a "Magic Mike meets Scarface saga" centered around the creation of the titular male-stripper mecca.
Here's Deadline with further details:
"Lion star Dev Patel is in talks to play Steve Banerjee, the Bombay-born immigrant who turned an LA dive bar into a multimillion-dollar cultural zeitgeist sensation. Ben Stiller will play Nick DeNoia, an Emmy-winning producer of children’s shows who recruited the musclebound G-string clad dancers, choreographed their routines and ran a touring company of strippers."
All of this is definitely weird enough to be interesting, but it gets even better: Chippendales will be written by Isaac Adamson, who authored Bubbles (the biopic about Michael Jackson's pet monkey that's currently being turned into a stop-motion animation film by Taika Waititi). Bubbles is one of the best screenplays I've read in years, so I'm very eager to see what Adamson will do with a Chippendales origin story.
Nothing further to report at this time, but we're going to be keeping a close eye on this one. Stay tuned for more as those sweet, sweet updates roll in.
