SDCC 2017: SUPERGIRL Panel Highlights

The Girl of Steel is back, and the gloves are off.

Supergirl returned to SDCC to bring us all of the secrets for their upcoming season. Obviously, when I say “all” I mean the cast showed up and did their best not to say anything that network executives want kept under wraps. All the same, we have tidbits!

First and foremost, Cat Grant is not only in the premiere, but is in and out through the whole season. Cat’s absence was unfortunate in season two, but the boss is back at CatCo and the (surviving) maternal figure in Kara’s life will have a bigger role moving forward. Cat's return also means that we’ll see James Olson return to his roots as a journalist and a photographer while balancing the role of Guardian. Don't worry, y'all, we’ll be seeing more Jimmy than we did last season too!

In addition to Rein, we’re getting a few more new faces in National City. Baddy Morgan Hedge will be heading in to fight with Lena Luthor, and J’onn’s not the last Green Martian after all. Martian Manhunter’s got a daddy, and their relationship is gonna be complicated!

The theme of season three of Supergirl will be humanity. Kara made a choice at the end of season two that Clark never could, and because of that she doubts her human side. We’ll be seeing her lean more heavily into Supergirl and moving away from Kara. There's no word how long these emotions will last, but it's doubtful that it will stick around much more after Mon El’s return.

Oh yeah, Mon El’s totally fine. Actually, we don't really know, but we do know that Mon El will be returning and Chris Wood is still very involved in the show. On the flip side of that, there are currently no plans to bring Superman back, but they love Tyler Hoechlin and if schedules and story align, he will return at some point.

That's the Supergirl news! What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming season?
