After announcing its leads at last month's D23 Expo, Guy Ritchie's Aladdin (a phrase on par with "President Donald Trump" in terms of weirdness, second only to "Will Smith as Genie") has found the actor playing its big-bad. It's also found an SNL cast member! Both of these things are pretty cool.
THR reports Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express 2k17) is in talks to tackle the role of classic Disney villain Jafar. Additionally, Saturday Night Live's Nasim Pedrad has joined the film as Mara, handmaiden to Jasmine, a comedic role created specifically for the film. It seems like Disney will be taking at least a handful of creative liberties with its own work, for whatever that is or isn't worth at this stage.
Aladdin doesn't have a release date just yet. We'll keep you posted.
