In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Guardians Of The Galaxy star Dave Bautista says he is living in constant fear of accidentally divulging Blade Runner 2049 secrets. Well, that's not exactly what he says, but that's the gist.
Here's the exact quote:
“I’m actually terrified about giving out any spoilers. The NDA on that film is ridiculous.”
Pressed to tell us something, anything, Bautista momentarily overcomes his fear, just long enough to tell us the name of his Blade Runner 2049 character:
“I don’t know for sure if it’s been (announced) or not ... I’ll give you the name of my character. My character’s name is Sapper Morton.”
Hm, well, that doesn't tell us much (you're safe for now, Bautista), but we guess it's a start. Elsewhere in the same interview, Bautista sings the praises of Blade Runner 2049's director, Denis Villeneuve. Even though Bautista is now trapped in a living nightmare of confidentiality from whence there is no escape, it sounds like he enjoyed working with the guy:
“It was amazing, it was amazing. (Denis Villeneuve is) a very insightful person. He’s very particular about every little detail of performance, which was really great, and really interesting, because a lot of things that I was seeing as my character performance, he wasn’t seeing at all. He was envisioning it completely different. He’s very clear. He makes it very clear to understand what it is he’s looking for. A lot of times, he’ll just demonstrate. He wanted me to walk a certain way, he wanted me to take my glasses off a certain way, and he would literally come over an demonstrate it: ‘Do this and do that.’ But it was incredible, man. He’s really got such a detailed eye, it was really amazing to see him work.”
All kidding aside, we're hyped to see what Bautista's done with this role (you can see a bit more of him in the trailer below), and - as always - remain unreasonably hyped for the coming of Blade Runner 2049. Stay tuned for further updates as they roll in.
