New MANHUNT Trailer Promises The Return Of John Woo

Unleash the doves!

It’s been so long since John Woo made one of his trademark crime pictures that it’s difficult to really know what they would even look like in 2017. Well, if the trailer for Manhunt is any indication, they look like the Woo shoot ‘em ups of old, just minus Chow Yun Fat.

Manhunt is set to premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, and is a remake of a Japanese thriller from the 70s revolving around “an innocent man who sets out to clear his name after being framed for robbery and rape.” A classic man on the run scenario Harrison Ford would be proud of. Based on this brief spot (which is really just the Chinese trailer rebranded with TIFF’s logo), we even see that Woo gets his dove game on yet again:

The film has yet to be picked up for US distribution, but here’s hoping that a few of us at BMD get to see it at Fantastic Fest in a few weeks. If so, one of us will definitely let you know if the wait was worth it for new double gun Woo.
