Maybe you didn't think the Joker origin movie (currently being put together by none other than Martin Scorsese and School For Scoundrels director Todd Phillips) would be "dark" and/or "gritty". Maybe you thought this was gonna be some chickenshit-ass Joker movie, one where everything's all bright and colorful and everything tastes like butterscotch. Maybe you oughtta think again, brah.
On a recent episode of Joe Rogan's Joe Rogan Experience podcast (created and hosted by Joe Rogan), former MMA fighter-and-now-actor Brendan Schaub dropped a little knowledge about this as-yet-unnamed Joker origin movie, and it's ... well, it's something, alright.
“My boy Todd Feldman put this together with Todd Phillips. It’s dark. It’s like a dark Joker. As a kid, he had a permanent smile and everyone made fun of him. It’s like on the streets of Brooklyn. It’s super dark and real.”
To recap, Todd Phillips' Joker origin movie will be:
- Dark
- Like a dark Joker
- Will feature a child-aged Joker with a permanent smile
- Other kids will pick on Baby Joker (Sad!)
- It's like on the streets of Brooklyn
- Super dark
- Real
The news comes to us from Batman-News.com, who valiantly listened to Joe Rogan's Joe Rogan Experience podcast in order to bring us this information. Should we take it at face value? Well, the story here is that Schaub apparently shares an agent with Todd Phillips, and that's how he came by the scoop, so ... you can decide how much stock to put into it. This one strikes us as one of those "So weird it's probably true" situations, but let's just wait and see. If the Joker origin movie includes a scene where a Baby Joker gets bullied by his classmates, we'll know it was legit.
Stay tuned for more on the Joker origin movie as it becomes available.
