Before we go any further, please take a moment to objectify Cara Delevingne’s delectable eyebrows in the above header photo.
You feel that? That’s called magic.
Anyway, Delevingne (Suicide Squad) has elected to co-star alongside Orlando Bloom in the upcoming fantasy-noir series, Carnival Row. Set in a neo-Victorian city, the series follows mythical creatures as they flee their war-torn homeland and create a large immigrant population, which leads to some tension with the locals. Soon, a string of unsolved murders occur, creating a greater schism within the population. Metaphors are used at some point, I’m sure.
Delevingne will play Vignette Stonemoss (LOL), a faerish (which is a word I had to look up and now you will too) who must contend with rampant human prejudice against her kind, but also harbors secrets of her own that could become damning.
Carnival Row will have an inaugural eight-episode season, and will be written and executive produced by Rene Echevarria (Teen Wolf). Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin) is on board to direct, and also executive produce. Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim) will serve as executive producer and wrote the original feature script A Killing on Carnival Row, which appeared on the very first installment of the Hollywood Blacklist in ‘05. That’s a bizarre array of talent for what will probably be a strange show.
